Hi,

I tried the search but couldnt seem to find much info.

Can someone confirm what tests need to be carried out on new christmas lights. its my companies policy that new equipment needs testing.

The lights are 240v double insulated transformed down to 36vdc LED type. Dont want to damage them before they even get used

Thanks in advance

We might take the pi55 but under the Electricity at work act "There are voltage limitations" so the lights need to be tested as class 2. Plug the transformer into the pat tester after a visual inspection has been carried out, and do the Insulation resistance test at 500v. If all is well then put a green sticker on. If for any reason it cant be tested at 500v then the manufacturers instructions will say so.

Cheers..........Howard

I know the senerio:
Monday. New microwave ordered for the canteen.
Tuesday. Microwave delivered by wholesaler.
Wednesday. Phone wholesaler, “This units faulty can you exchange it”. “Yes OK”
Thursday. Replacement microwave delivered by wholesaler.
Friday. Phone wholesaler, “This units faulty can you exchange it”. “Yes OK”
Monday. Replacement microwave delivered by wholesaler.
Tuesday. Phone wholesaler, “This units faulty can you exchange it”. “NO what have you being doing to them?”

And before you start laughing I was the mug in the planning office making the phone calls to the wholesaler. I told the electrician to just install the microwave, not shove 500V DC up it and fry the electronics!

Wednesday. Phone wholesaler and grovel. “OK new one on it’s way, BUT NO WARANTY!”
Thursday. Install microwave myself. Then I get it in the bloody neck from the plant manager “two flamin’ weeks to get a microwave!”
