Hello, yesterday I Carried out a EICR, two DBs all installed in 2007, so pretty simple until I got to the last circuit. And It was a 16amp type B marked up as bathroom socket, thinking it was most likely the shaver points, after half hour I found a weatherproof socket under the bathroom sink, attempted to take a Zs from it and found there was no earth, after another half hour of ****ing around I found a 230v to 230v transformer?! Which fed the socket,

if someone could tell me how to upload photos, I will show you.

is this ok?! Apparently it was installed by a previous owner, I've disconnected it as they don't use it anyway but seems abit strange.

It's disconnected as its neve used anyway, it's amazing on this site you ask one question on something your unsure about and everyone instantly thinks your think or your not qualified, Jeez you guys need to relax abit.

Sorted then.....and learned a bit, eh?

Sometimes there is undoubtably a grain of truth in that, this site is populated with grumpy old gits. But the unfortunate truth for you is that persons carrying out EICR's are expected to either know the requirements for this sort of scenario,or know where to find the requirements in the BGB....if you dont you are not competant to be carrying out EICR's,thats the way it works I'm afraid.

I'm more than competent to find it in the book but the simple fact that I asked on here first because it's a lot easier, just because i asked one question means I'm not competent? I will happily send you over the pile of certificates and qualifications to prove i am competant if you like??

Unfortunately this goes to prove that the 17th edition exam is a waste of time!

Using a Haynes manual index does not class me as competent to service a Ford Fiesta.....

A certain understanding of the wiring regulations needs to be in place before even considering sitting this exam. It should NOT be an index referencing quiz!

The confusing thing for me is that the OP refers us to rather pretty slide show but then states the socket is in zone 3,yet at the outset the slideshow states quite clearly that there are now only 3 zones, namely o,1 and 2.Blimey talk about dip in and read bits, lol

your right it won't make you competent just by reading the index but having the qualifations would
