Running a 20A 6.0mm T&E radial to utility room to supply two single 13A sockets to feed Washing Machine and Tumble Dryer.

The T&E will be terminated in a PVC adaptable box, just wondering how to make the connection to the sockets as terminals
will not take 6.0mm.

Can I use connector strip using 4.0mm or 2.5mm to feed the sockets, was hoping to use Wago but they too will not take 6.0mm.
Is there connector out there that will do the job.

Thanks

That maybe bonkers but toatly possible MK sockets will accept 2x 6mm no problems. I also used single sockets so each machine has it's own socket so 2 plug tops are not connected to one Double socket
You may get 2 X 6mm2 conductors into the terminals, but how will you get the single socket back against the pattrice LOL

Well I'll take your word for it, however I still hope I never come across 2 x 6mm in the back of a socket! Ugh and on a 25mm box as well, no ta!
With you there, that would be a bad design and a bodge up, thats why I sugessted one twin socket rather than 2 singles so only one 6mm2 conductor is needed, that said after seeing murdochs reply I am now on the side of a small DB

Come on Gaz, to attempt to stick 2 6mm2 in a single socket when there is no need to is just plain Daft IMHO, and I suspect others will agree as well, have you been at the christmas sherry already?

You can use a 35mm deep box no problems and what exactly is wrong with having a 6mm radial instead of a 4mm or even 2.5mm

As long as you terminate the cable correctly and dress the cables back there's no problem
I am not suggesting it cannot be achieved, I am suggesting it is a silly way to make an appliance work under the circumstances mentioned in the OP, the design is poor.

We will have to agree to disagree there

Yes if you were desining it from start you would install a 2.5 or at a push 4mm radial

But as long as the installation was carryed out correctly there's nothing wrong with a 6mm radial

If anything it's belt and braces over engineered

Totally over engineered. A 4 way Dist board would be the way forward, 2 x 2.5mm2 radials for the 2 single sockets and there would be a spare way for the future shed supply, anyhow merry christmas Gaz

As already said you can get a twin terminal socket for each conductor. If not go for the MK single termination socket. I've got 2 lots of 6mm in before without giving them a hair cut lol. Below is the MK tech spec for a singe termination socket.....

Terminal capacity:
Live, neutral & earth
3 x 2.5mm2
3 x 4mm2
2 x 6mm2 (stranded)

Then you better go back and check them all, most of the projects i've worked on have used MK (crabtree on this project) wall accessories and 3 X 4 mm has never worked too well, (they always work loose), though never been stupid enough to even try 2 X 6mm in a socket of any make. Trying to compress 2 X 6mm or 3 X 4mm stranded conductors with tiny termination screws ain't gonna work, not for long anyway, just setting them and the faceplate back into the back box is sometimes all that's needed to loosen everything up. And all our outlet boxes are the deep 40 something mm too....

Thanks Murdoch, this is the obvious and best solution and still keeping a supply for the shed if needed later. The post got off to a bad start but the end result was worth the sla££ing off I got.

And I nearly didn't post this as I thought it was FAR to obvious. Don't go messing around with sockets, despite what some posts suggest you will struggle a lot!
