I did try to bring this thread back on topic earlier...however having read subsequent posts I guess folks must have their say...

Anyway, back to current concerns...I'm doing a lot of cooking and learning more each day.
For example, here is a tip if you live alone, only want 1 portion of mince to cook for your dinner, but froze the whole 500g pack:
1. Place the frozen block of mince on a breadboard
2. Insert a fresh tungsten-tipped blade into your multi-tool (mine's a DeWalt cordless, but any make will do!)
3. Using a combination of passes and plunge cuts, portion the mince into sections
4. Return the extra portions to a plastic tupperware type dish, separated by some greaseproof paper, and pop back in freezer
5. Thaw the selected section of mince and cook it, and while it is cooking, clean your blade thoroughly and put it in your cutlery drawer, smiling smugly...

Furlough me, if I lived alone I could afford something a lot fancier than mince for my dinner.

I'm having duck breast in home-made orange sauce tonight. Variety is the thing.
Tomorrow i am making seafood paella.
I'm with 123 on mince though, it's very versatile, and good mince is an excellent base for so many dishes, and thus also allows you to vary the choice of the accompanying wine.

There're many variations...

As ye will ken, littlespark, the term "mince" is used for many things that don't work properly...
"See thae quinetic dual receivers? they're mince, by the way...

Ah woke up this mornin' an' ma heid wiz mince...

etc etc

fillet,,, overpriced snowlake food for them what's got more money than sense their own teeth.

What's wrong with mince? It's very versatile (cottage pie, stews, casseroles, burgers, meatballs, bolognese etc etc). And if you get it from a decent butchers its decent meat.

Nothing wrong with mince meat cooked well in the methods you described (not sure about stew, I like large chunks) but if your only cutting yourself a single portion of frozen meat then that suggest to me your just eating mince.
And like I said if I lived on my own I could afford something much more fancy for my dinner, as it is I get to enjoy a lot of it.

I'm sure you have heard of this but for those who have not. I am opening a new service. For £2.5k I will bring my emergency covid team to your house and remove you to your girlfriend/boyfriend for two weeks and return you home after. PM me for payment details.
Gotta be inventive in difficult times!
