Conversation with a domestic customer
"Can you show me where your board is please ?"
Blank look
"You know, your distribution board"
Blank look accompanied by slow head shaking
"Sorry I should have said your consumer unit"
Blank look turns to puzzled look
"Your fuse box ?"
"Ohhhhhh that... yeah it's under the stairs buried under mounds of shoes, vacuum cleaners, carrier bags, decorating tools and bits of old carpet"

Wholesalers are just as bad. I asked for a PIR light switch replacement with "no neutral". He scratched his head, said there was no such thing, went into the back to ask a workmate and came back with a smug look on his face. "Oh, you mean a PIR switch with Lives only"!!!! Same bloody thing aaaahhhh

One primary school where we did the repairs years ago had a real know it all caretaker,he'd always wait until the problem was sorted and then smugly state " Oh....I thought it was that".
One day it was the usual tube and starter motor...:)mad2:)...he'd replaced without success. I popped another choke in it and away she went.
"what was it then?" he enquired.
"You'd put the starter in back to front" I told him......."Oh...I thought it might be that" was the immediate response!

Helped me out a lot when trying to fit older C/U's or DB's or Fuse boxes with new MCB's etc. Great lads but this one was just being a rounded door handle. Tried to show me up in front of the que , back fired on him when the crowed chuckled at him when I said "yep that is the one, the live only version without any neutrals, I should have asked for one of those in the first place."
