On an RCD? Probably not.

Jeez that's horrific. Have you advised him on more suitable light fittings and junction boxes? Daz

Yeah but the reply was "we don't use them much anyway"

Amazing the RCD doesn't trip-the-light-fantastic with this arrangement. Let me guess, no RCD?

Edit - same thought as Pat :)

That's correct no rcd

The board is merlin gerin and looks quite tidy so I'd imagine the outside additions are most likely DIY as I doubt a first year apprentice wouldn't even churn out that rubbish.

I had a T+I from hell yesterday, everything I opened or looked in or behind had problems, 4 circuits had no earth continuity. The shower circuit was a disaster. 9.8KW shower on 32A MCB, cpcs not connected at isolator switch, 2 of which were no where near the earth terminal when I pulled it away from the box, missing earth sleeving, conductors falling out of most terminals, burnt wire wrapped with tape, strands cut out all over the place, extra 6mm cable on the load side of the switch, singles in wall going to light switch above then to loft joint box, then connected to 1.5mm cable for loft room socket, shower had section of cover missing allowing you to touch live parts inside, cover only had one screw so could easily be lifted up. At least there was an RCD in the circuit. I don't know how they managed to connect everything then get all that wiring in a 35mm dry line box.
