Depends on where you are putting your rod.......I can think of one place I'd like to put a 4ft rod.
Now, now, just coz E54 has a different opinion than yours, there's no need for that kind of talk...lol

Just stick another rod in and see.If you use an SDS hammer adaptor you can knock it in very fast.
Me thinks the existing rod is one of those thin short twigs that can't be extended!! lol!!
Nothing a bit of duct tape can't sort
do it right. solder and cover with heat shrink.
