Is extending cables to move cu exceptable ? if so......what is the best method ? block or crimps ??

only about 5 meters,....the house in question is having its bathroom extended ( by knockingthrough to a cupboard behing bathroom ) in which the consumer unit is now. so must be moved above the front door.

You can extend the cables but you need to think about things like:

Are they still going to be in a 'safe zone' once you've moved the CU?

Will the extra length of the cables effect anything (voltage drop, Zs etc)?

Will you need to run cables through insulation to get to the new CU position?

If your extending the cables 5 mteres and just going to use heatshrink and crimps, how are you going to adhere to regulation 526.5

Crimp and heat shrink..... but not the tails and main earth bonds :icon14:

Why can you not crimp an earth bond??
