I have run 10mm2 3 core SWA to garage CU but miscalculated the length and no way Im going to reach the house CU. I need to extend the cable, is it acceptable to do it like on the picture?

Yes that would be acceptable if single insulated cables are going to be exposed then put them in some containment.

A torpedo would probably be the easiest, even if you have to cut the feed cable back so that the join is in the best place.

It would also mean that the Swa can be glanded properly into the CU instead of having to use a junction box.

What about taking the SWA to its own little CU and split the incoming tails with Henley blocks?
House CU can be isolated without affecting garage
Thanks of the idea, I will have an electrician replacing my house CU at some point next year, so will definitely consider this option. At the moment I am looking for a temporary solution (as simple and cost effective as possible) and wanted to know if the one I suggested is acceptable and safe

I would definitely go for it but my CU in an old one with the back entry and no slots to gland SWA. I will do it properly when I replace the CU next year. Thank you
