Its not my style to start reporting people, but i strongly feel you need to let this company/guy know about his apprant bad service and in reality he's the one that should be on here asking for help not you the consumer.

I did let the company know I wasn't happy with the system following the cable problem, which they eventually replaced, unfortunately it was the same electrician that did this, it would seem that he is under some sort of contract to the installing company.

It is difficult complaining to a higher body such as MCS or REAL as I am not sure what position that would put me in regarding getting the problem sorted and warranties etc.

I have no confidence in the electrician to sort it which is why I am attempting to rectify it myself if possible, just don't want to screw anything up in the process, I did qualify as an electrician, took an apprenticeship when I left school, but that was many many years ago and things & the regs have changed so many times since then...

Once it is running correctly I would be in a better position to complain I guess....

Well have manged to change the country setting to G83/1 successfully, so will if the system performs any better now, just need a bit of sun to put it through it's paces........

Guess I will be contacting my installer again on Monday to let him know what I think of their electrician, first wrong cable size even though he was adamant it was okay, which was then changed to 6mm, this got rid of all error events, but had overvoltage events showing, asked him if country setting was set to G83/1, he said if english language was showing then okay, but it wasn't as I have just changed it.

Not impressed at all.

Thanks again for everyones help and input.

Reporting isnt always the answer, but a letter in writing can do the trick, as a company i would be deeply upset to receive a letter of complaint - but then i wouldnt let the situation get to that point.

Fingers crossed for you.

I think Richard has done the right thing by coming here. He seems to have an installer who thinks he knows better, and that type of person is highly unlikely to be visiting here for advice. Even the simplest of solutions given i.e. change the supply cable to 6mm was fobbed off by the installer with a balse response "Ive fitted loads wit 2.5mm cable"......The man could not be bothered to read the installation instructions and therefore needs reporting to REAL, as he is dragging your names through the mud as fellow installers.

Also have to agree with Dansk on the point "I would never have let it go this far"..........reputation is everything to me, and no matter what the job, I always do it right first time, and heaven forbid there is a problem, Im back in a flash to resolve.

On my las install, I was called back to rectify a problem on the sunny beam display. Not knowing what happened, the customer called in a panic, and all he had done was to do a factory reset (somehow) and needed it setting up again. He was in his 80's, but I was round within 4 hours and put it all right, nothing system critical, but good customer service.

That a customer has to come onto a professional forum to get advice on getting his system sorted is an absolute joke. I wouldn't criticise the electrician for getting it wrong - we all make mistakes - but I would DEFINITELY criticise him for not being there asap and getting it sorted.

After care is hugely important and if an electrician working for me had got it wrong, I'd demand that he got out there asap to sort it - failing that, it would be the last time he worked for me and I'd go and sort it myself.

Right, it is definately not set right, the dials need changing to to 5 and 8 to be set to g83. fingers crossed that this will do it chnage it, it might have been running too long. Either way, you can let your installer know that it needs changing to g83, you can tell him that yes, the inverters are factory set to g83 at dial setting 0,0 but occasionally some come through that are'nt and they need to be changed- this is all in the installation manual.
He shouldnt need to change thye volatge or anything similar-just set it to g83.

FYI
I have been experiencing Grid Overvoltage problems, with my 4000TL, (connected to 21 x 190w Shotts), and following this thread. I have found out today that my inverter was shipped with dials setting, 0,0 and changed by the installer to 0,1 to get English, BUT the inverter settings were for G59/2 as required by my DNO for this size of inverter. This shows up as Special Settings via Sunny Explorer.

Who's your DNO, unusual to require full G59/2, usual requirement is G83 and an adjustment on the frequency setting only.
