Can you use ferrule crimps on 230v such as power and lighting if you use stranded cables ?

The 16A you are referring to is AWG or American wire gauge.

Took me a while to find where you were getting 14A and 16A from

If you look at a reputable supplier such as Weidmuller you will see that their crimps are rated at the same current carrying capacity as the cable they are fitted to.

Red = 100pcs Wire Range: 22A.W.G, 0.5mm2

Blue = 100pcs Wire Range: 20A.W.G, 0.75mm2

White = 100pcs Wire Range: 18A.W.G, 1.0mm2

Black = 100pcs Wire Range: 16A.W.G, 1.5mm2

Gray = 100pcs Wire Range: 14A.W.G, 2.5mm2

Orange = 100pcs Wire Range: 12A.W.G, 4.0mm2

Green = 100pcs Wire Range: 10A.W.G, 6.0mm2

So these are not the amp ratings. I cant find any amp ratings for them at all.

AWG stands for American Wire Gauge. (cable size)

Yep, use thousands of the things, as all the cabling in our installations (hospitality trailers) is in flex.

I would not use a screw terminal on flex without a ferrule.

I find these on prewired 13a plugs - but where can I buy them? I need them for typical mains cables but also for 7/.02 and 16/.02 wires I use on models

you could fit normal ferrules the wrong way round, then cut off the insulated bit.
