Hi all ,been speaking to a sparky mate of mine today whos been out of work for a bit so he signed on.
And he's been given £300 by job centre to help him back into work,he has to provide reciepts for the stuff he's getting.
But he has had 17th edition exam paid for
17th IEE wiring regs
17th OSG
and passport to safety exam paid for!
So if any of you guys are struggling for a few week it may be worth signing on.
He signed on fri and was given the money the following wed!

I should point out its down to their disscretion what you spend the money on but she told him that if he hadn't used his £300 up and got a job he could come back and spend the rest on tools battery drill what ever as long as it helps keep you in a job!

I think after about a year of unemployment they give more cash for such and about 2k to an employer to employ you if you can find one that will take you under that condition.

Employ yourself!

worth a thought.

i just signed on last week this money is part of a new government plan to help you back to work and you only qualify for it if you where made redundant as a result of the economic down turn if you lost your job cause you where sack or if you left of your own accord you dont qualify for it

I was told I can only get funding if I have a job offer provisional on having whatever I want funding for, ie to get funding an employer would have to say they are prepared to wait a month or two while I maybe do the 2382 (if I can get the money off the jobcentre), rather than just hiring someone on the spot.

I think they may be fobbing me off so they can get away with doing less 'work' (filling in forms).

apparently this is a new thing started within the last year if you have been told this recently its likely to do with the conditions you left your last job on i.e sacked or leaving of your own accord

i was made redundant last june when the company i had worked for in south wales went insolvant / bust, i claimed £2500 from reAct funding, which i used for

1-17th edition,
2-2392,
3-pat testing,
4-3 diff fork truck lic,

i had to prove these were relavant too me progressing my skills and would help getting a job,
all books i needed were also funded and travel costs.
this had to be completed and done within 6 months,
i then aquired £1000 via jobmatch wales after the reAct funding was used up and did,

1-2391
2-site safety certs

i have started work jan of this year and my employer gains £500 for taking me on and £1000 if still employed after 6 months, also if needed they will provide me with further funded training if
the thinks i need it.
i now work as a process technician running a production line and brakedown and maintenance repairs when needed.
