Lol he came in his test sheet was half filled in, Every thing was >200 Meg Ohms.
I asked how many he did a day he said 3-4. asked how much his company charge he said "You wont get much more the 80-90 quid for a PIR these days"
i live in a 3 bed house. He did in fairness put some g@y sleeving on some bare Cpc's.
1 light SWT came off 1 Double socket.

Unfortunately it's not just the 5 day wonders that don't do a good job. I've had 3 PIRs done by allegedly experienced and reputable electricians on properties I've been involved with prior to becoming an electrician and now that I'm up to speed can see what a bodge these guys have done. Missed wrong polarity in socket, inability to find bonding even though it's pretty obvious (and then quote me for remedials!), wrong fuse types and ratings stated, missed inadequate main earth conductor sizing, missed damaged fittings, all IR readings stated as >200M when 2 circuits had issues, the list is long. One of them charged £450 for a PIR that took one day on the house I'm in now (including the missed polarity at a socket outlet). I've done the whole inspection and test myself now in about 3 hours. Not only did he screw it up but I was ripped off too. This isn't just an issue about 5 day wonder sparks; it's about the general level of testing ability and fault finding.

Absolutely true, the general standard of PIRs is abysmal, a combination of poor skills and poor practices.

How many posts do we see here asking 'can I do PIRs, I've got 17th edition and Part P?'

Although 2391-10 is not a concrete requirement to carry out a PIR, I would not like to attempt to prove competence in court without it.

I agree IQ... However, I know a few that have the 2391 and are shocking when doing PIR's... Where does one draw the line.. With that, I'm off for a pint... The only gripe here is that I can't get my fave Aussie tipple from the pub grr lol :)
