Just wired up a socket in my kitchen, don't worry I am part p qualified and 17th edition qualified, when I plug the kettle in the toaster blows the fuse box, I only have some silver foil and no fuse wire, will that be okay until I get to screwfix in the morning? or will I have to stick a 6" nail across it as I hear silver foil can be dangerous? thanks for your help fellow electricians, oh one last question do I need to Bond the kitchen sink even though it is plastic? I have looked in my on site guide and it doesn't mention anything and I need to get this right as I have a yearly inspection from Napit in 2 weeks time and want to show off this job to the inspector.

just get a local plumber in, as long as he's got part p. should only cost about £1000. ( till he finds that your ballcock is jammed and that will be an extra £3000). stop cutting corners, you tightarse.

This, in my book, indicates that you are fully qualified/competent to apply the 6" nail as you describe...also I would bond the plastic kitchen sink as I remember from my college days that all materials, even insulators (plastic), are actually conductors - so bond away!

I am qualified, I paid 5k for my course, not a bad price though, I got a multi meter as part of the deal :D

i would be doing.....you can use a jubilee clip to get a fix for the cable...

just be mindful though not to reinstate the fuse carrier under load after you`v put the nail in it wont you....very dodgy ground reinstating fuses under load....

I think I've found your problem

Try using a brass bolt to repair the fuse it may last until you get to screwitup, sorry screwfix in the morning, whe you are there you could ask if they have any plastic earth clips, some spotty muppet will probably go and look for some lol
