Am I the only one? I'm stick to death of coming on here and getting told the best electricians are career changers because they paid for it themselves. 16-21 year olds are no good because they have a life outside work. This scheme worked for nearly 100 years but now it can't why? All the 6 week wonders, taxi drivers and the rest of the M.U.M'S (made up mates) can bore me with your reasons.

I feel the same when people like me harp about JIB Gold Card Approved Electricians being the best lol even though they are lol

Times are changing, and the industry is being watered down imo, but that don't mean career changers make any a less of an Electrician than me of anyone else.

Experience finds people out, that's a FACT, so that's what I play on with customers or who ever.

disagree i got a jib gold card and im rubbish :)

Can tell by your posts you know a bit lol anyway all the sparks I know what hold JIB tickets are Electricians, not good ones, because your either an Electrician or your not.

There's no in between either imo, no such thing as a defined one either, you can either do a bit of everything (and that don't mean everything single thing) domestic, commercial and industrial or you can't.

And I bet most sparks who get involved in the majority of the threads can do a bit of everything.

The one thing i have never understood is people that moan about the JIB, yes they are a pain in the arse and in so many ways useless etc. But the amount of people that moan about them because can't get a ticket because they dont have the correct quals. This gets my back up, for this reason i like the JIB, they still seperate the different types of 'electricians'. I have nothing agaisnt the people who do the short courses, i understand there reasons and i have no doubt some of them are decent. But at the end of the day, any half decent site in this country wont let a spark step on site inless there JIB, and long stay it this way.

I must say that I do not see many posts saying that career changers are the best or anything about JIB gold cards. I myself am a time served from leaving school at 16 years old. I do not think I am better than any career changer. Yes I am sure I have more experience than alot of them but I am equally sure that some of them could put me to shame. Now in saying all that I do from time to time get frustrated at certain post asking questions and then they get a bit shirty when they do not get the responce they had hoped for. As far a I am aware this forum is about creating a community for fellow electricians to make some mates and help each other out. Certainly not to try to find the best electrician or have a go at each other. I find the best thing to do is ignor threads or posts I dont like.
