now to bring some controversy into the equation. its in a porch. it's attached to the building fabric. so not notifiable. minor works certificate.
 
i may be wrong. but as i understand part p, outside electrics, as in remote from the house, garden, shed, ponds, etc. are notifiable. anything attached to the house, e.g. porch lights, security lights etc. are not notifiable
 
As per EGtBR (p60) it includes "Outdoor lighting or outdoor power installations" with no mention of being screwed down.
yes. agree with outdoor lighting/installations. but anything fixed to the fabric of the building is just an extension to the indoor installation as if it were an extra light or socket in a room.

I'm not sure I agree with this, can't really see the difference between an outside light attached to a post or the house, both are supplied from the house!
 
I think it's more of a special location because of the exposure to the elements, like exposure to water jets in a bathroom, steam in a sauna etc.

Funnily enough I was about to ask this same question, as I also read somewhere that if the fitting is attached to the building then it does not need notifying. Can anyone else clarify this ??
