Just looking at the pickies, I, have always use capping for chased cables, what do others do
well i use channel as well..

but it never ceases to amaze me how many out there think that PVC/metal channel is `containment`...lol..

its purpose is primerally to prevent the plasterer from cutting into the cables with his trowel...and to keep cables in order of course...although clipping does/should acheave this as well....

Yep, agree, capping be it metal or plastic won't stop a nail or screw but it does stop the spreads trowel scraping the cables, hate plastic, it doesn't sit well and often shatters especially if its cold, would be great to always use tube but it is additional labour cost.

This was my question to the sparky, I said I'm sure some would just leave the cable and have it plastered over, not sure if covering it does anything protection wise, you could still whack a nail through it

His response was always try and make it look its best, take pride in your work!! Ok it added time on to the job

Update

Guess it does do a job if it stops the plasterer from cutting into it

Listen to the guy there are a lot of rough arses out there, always do the job to the best of your ability, but obviously as you get more experience you will get quicker, without rushing. I hope he pays you something for this, even though the experience is payment enough, it is always nice to feel appreciated.

It is great experience, was a 12hr 1st day of work then travelling too and from Bradford to Leeds

I hope I get something too, time will tell
