Chris have you got a day job then, I am not being nosey just be interested in some info about you i.e. are you doing sparking the odd day or are you working somewhere else etc. the only reason I ask is I like your attitude and now and again I need some help, although I am mainly industrial/commercial.

Yeah GMES explained it to me, a 3 story in a day

I still think even if I was up to speed it would take 2 days for the 2 story we are doing, a day for each fix, but that would be the very quickest,

just can't see how it can be done in a day unless the guy doesn't sleep

Maybe he does them with another 3 or 4 lads/lasses

Just for clarity ....I used to do 5 per week, for around 10 years. 2 men and labourer, occasionally apprentice. They where council properties, complete ****holes and quality work was not the priority. Its been debated to death but it did happen and still does by large house bashing companies all over. Granted you were turning up and chasing/lifting boards immediately....labourers do all furniture/carpets/tidying/fetching materials. Power up and tested next day by someone else. (companies policy not mines )

Easy work and easy money, occasionally we would have weekend rewires on top of that.

Now...I run my own company and we can manage 3 per week providing they are straightforward flats/3 bed semis. Hard graft, long hours, 2 men and labourer completely flat out.

Doing the same thing day in day out for 10 years makes you good at it (some folk on here not grasping that) and to make the job neater than the council jobs surprisingly doesn't take much longer again, with practise.

Most sparks I know shy away from rewires, at times I quite enjoy them. Considered the donkey work of the electrical industry, you would be surprised how many "qualified sparks" couldn't wire a set of pre tubed lights AND you would be surprised at the money involved once you start doing more than one per week. Folk say Im mental working 12 hr days 7 days a week at full pelt, covered in **** but its hard to turn down when you know you can handle that amount.

Debate over :p No arguing please...

JRC, straight forward question here, who in your company does the testing and the cert?

Without arguing, I do. Just because I didn't test for the old company doesn't mean I don't know how too.Im SJIB 17th Edition Approved. In Scotland, I have everything needed to sign off certs. We don't notify anything and if building control are involved , occasionally they will ask for a copy of you grade card thats all.

This is nothing to do with JRC, can someone explain to me about the Scottish rules.

If a person is not with a body, and just say they have done a rewire, does it not have to be notified then? Or even checked by anyone?

He does hold his convo well, I'll give him that.

Nope..I dread the day we need to start notifying ...just another headache on top the other admin.

That extra weight's gonna slow you down this week. Best you bump the 3rd rewire to next Monday!

Tell me about it. Luckily only one rewire this week, few snags and 36 down lights to install.

Next week Im starting a massive rewire around 7/8 beds. Ongoing project. Then Im potentially installing 8 metal halides at an horse arena, armour and glands and **** ...foreign terratory but believe it or not I can do it :p

Rewires should be in full flow in next few weeks.
