Max Zs readings where circuits are protected by 30ma RCD's

Happens far to often sadly. We never stop learning, and we can all make mistakes but when I see things like this !!!! Sorry I rant yet again.

Rant away, you're spot on, but I can't see that as a mistake if someone was actually competent enough to measure the value in the first place and produce a certificate, it's pure incompetence and I see it every day of my PIR life!

Guys are testing and inspecting work without the underpinning knowledge to ensure that an installation is safe....

Exactly, and you can gaurantee, if you approached the guy he would say. Well the max is 1667 so its well within, anyway, its RCD protected.
And yes they will argue the point and call themselves qualified.
If the big book says jump over a cliff, they jump. The qualified man wears a parachute, he see's the bigger picture.

and if the RCD were to be faulty???????

and if the RCD were to be faulty???????

Then they can stick there 1667 where the sun doesn't shine cus somebody's gonna get hurt or worse.
Like many have said, this RCD thing is being relied on way to much.
I go with a good old solid earth any day.

RCDs come and go.the good old earth will still be here when we're all buried in it.

I questioned Castline systems about their default 1667 ohms and they say its OK. I disagree and update each line to show the "correct" values.

Its approved by NICEIC, says it all really. Due my annual review with Elecsa soon so will see what my assessor says, me thinks he and I will agree.

Maybe Castline will read this and understand the views of the professionals, rather that those of the corner cutters.

so.it's about 8-1 in favour of BS7671 values. bit like an arsenal defeat.

Have we verified this with them, or is that what Castline are saying?
