no, actually, no real naked ladies, but

I done a EICR or PIR actually on an old house with apparent TT set up for earthing. 6mm earth cable coming up from the door step to the 3036 board. I disconnect the earth cable and do a Ze. Reading? - 0.11!!!!!!! Test between Live and neutral, same reading.

Can't see where connection made between neutral and earth. Any suggestions?

haha, good one.

on a serious note though, I have advised customer to get DNO to look at the setup, and quote for an isolator at the same time, but I was wondering if any of you seasoned domestic lot have come across this before. 6mm cable from consumer unit disappears through the wall and is evident at doorstep level before going under the cement. That is all the earthing provided. Cable disconnected from CU to do Ze to avoid parallel paths. Reading of 0.11. Fairly new service head with concentric PVC cable.

well its highly unlikely that an earth rod will be providing a resistance reading on par with a tns set-up.
do the Ze test again with the cable disconnected at the rod , if its still low you know the earth path is coming from somewhere else.

I appreciate your input Biff, but no way of disconnecting the earth rod without doing damaging investigating activity.
TBH I was only enquiring if any one has encountered this before and if so, what the cause was. I can assume that 0.11 ohm Ze on an apparent TT system is suggesting that something else (that I can't see) is going on.

My bafflement increases. I swapped the offending light with one elsewhere on the back of the house - one of those that's on a circuit of its own...

If the shared neutral is lost ,won`t you be getting 400v across both cottages? 2 phase US style but double the Voltage.
