old board= under sized and a dual mains switch board
new board= more ways to split accordingly and RCD protected as per regs.
So how is that like for like????

The rcbo had melted out and wouldnt reset! as it had been running half the house for quite some time! it was only 32a.
He wanted his power back and there were no other spare ways available to get him going again as most of the circuits were doubled up anyway. I dont think i would of found a mains switch for a board that old.

This is a wind up yeah....

Wish i had never got involved in this job to be honest but you live and learn i guess!
Most of my customers would be happy knowing their house is safe but others just like to scrape by!
He knew the house was dodgy and thats why we agreed to do a cu change and test to check for other hidden surprises.

You have learn't the lesson ? Perhaps if you looked for the "surprises" which you have had no problems finding AFTER:mad2: you change the board ? Or did you think your customer would just agree to the additional works and cost ?

You still haven't said why the garage circuit failed or what it failed?and i fail to see a lack of isolators for the fan and fridge as unsafe and dodgey

2.5 3core swa running a board in the garage!! about 12 double sockets, a spur and lighting. also the mains switch of the garage borad has been taken out so no means of local isolation.
holes big enough to fit 2 finger in!!?

db2 in garage is run in 2.5 3c swa with a million sockets and light etc also the mains swith on db2 is non existent and big hoes in sides etc. What is the problem with it feeding a million sockets?? Where is the problem here?? There is one vital bit of information you are missing

no fan iso in bathroom - Whats the problem.. May have complied at time of install
no iso for integral fridge - Ditto
cooker (GAS FAN ASSISTED) is run in 6mm to a sw fused spur where it is down graded to 13amp with 1.5 t&e to socket for spark. tried putting a 5amp in instead but as soon as the cooker is played with it pops the fuse. Why fuse down to 5a whats wrong with 13a

As above

next time tell us the whole story not just little bits, because you just sound like you have no idea on what you are doing and that by the sounds of it you don't, so you must go to all your jobs and just say straight away oh you need to update your board,

It was dangerous the way the board was! making it RCD protected couldnt make it any worse!! it had 1.0mm lighting off 20a mcbs the lot!

He wanted power back to his house and i couldnt see any other way of doing it safely! i did warn him before i started that if the rest of the house is anything like the board it wasnt looking good!!

I got the job as a call out as half his house had no power!!

Excuse me??

What would you have done then?

If the board was in such a bad state wouldnt you change it? i know i wouldnt want to put my name to that old board!
The holes i know can he filled with blind grommets but i thought having local isolation would be important!!! also having a million sockets isnt a problem its the tumbly dryer and freezer, fridge and others plugged into it!!!!!!
