Discuss No Paperwork For New Consumer Unit Installation in the Electrical Wiring, Theories and Regulations area at ElectriciansForums.net

I think this thread lost it a long time ago!

Yeah It a consumer unit: re-locate and fit
And a couple of incidentals.
Nice branded board supplied.
Charged £600
Relative concerned about no certs.

My humbe opinion - fair price :)
If he was dodgy, he'd have insisted on cash, not left a paper trail with the machine :laugh3:

If it was a class job and he'd issued a cert straight off it might be OK, but it looks like a bag of ----. For £660 you would have thought he could have used a proper adaptable box with cable grips and not that crap looking mess. And what did he make the hole in the wall with his boot??

Back on Track!!

Apologies for the delay (& thank you for the insight into how pricing works in the meantime!) but as promised please find attached the "certificate" that has been provided for the job. It is just a copy of an email they received i.e. they are not in possession of an original printing.
What you see here is the ONLY paperwork they have for the job apart from the merchant terminal receipt.
I have edited out identifying names, addresses, signatures etc.

It doesn't look adequate to me, but your experience & comments are more useful than my non-expert opinion. I look forward to your replies.

your just being fussy that is an eicr and is the only paperwork you will receive.

if you have another look he is taking responsibility for the ccu and all circuits in the house and says they are fit for purpose.

not the neatest handwriting but you have the proper cert and its all there

You actually have an EIC (Electrical Installation Certificate), the correct certificate for a CU change. Not the best handwritten one I've seen, and his maths isn't very good. Not sure why he's calculated all the Zs (earth fault lop impedance) values but that's an accredited way of doing it. As shanky has said he's taken responsibility for the existing circuits, which is unusual, but I don't think you could call on for any 'warranty' for them. I think you'll have to take this one on the chin, you've seen all the comments about cost etc. Don't think there's much else to add?

PS. Emailing certificates s also acceptable, do it all the time myself via my scheme.

The EIC isn't amendment 3 ... the new EIC'S have a minimum of 5pages.

The handwriting is awful.

He's taken responsibility for more than he's done ... up to him

Calculating Zs annoys me, but its allowed.

why does it matter if he used new forms or not. as long as it complies its fine.

its only slightly lower acceptable values in this case from amd3 from the previous editions

the model forms in bz7671 are 4 pages

The EIC form has changed ... theres now 2 schedule of inspections as opposed to 1 previously.

Where is the scheme number for their Part P membership?

and / or confirmation that LABC notification has been done.

Its worth noting that I have looked at their website and there is no mention of Part P membership...

The landlord does not need to share it with you as for the burning smell the landlord should address this.
