Hi, please can someone advise. I have completed the domestic installers course which was great but it did not cover outside lighting. I would like to install an outside light in my garden and due to the position I would have to bury the cable underground. There are no blanks in the DB and would really like some advice
Thanks in advance

Ok, you obviously enjoy making fun of people rather than passing on advice! Jog on!

We discussed different earthing arrangements and main & supplementary bonding!
Best you "jog on" with your attitude. You will eventually learn that this is one of the most important things you will have to know about, well and truly before you think of a garden light!

dont tell me to `jog on` pal....
if you know what your doin....why come in here askin how to carry out a basic bit of install like this eh?....
a prime example of whats turned out from these Electrical Trainee courses.....you saw it here guys...

Tomac according to the lie you have been sold you are qualified to work on your own accord in a domestic situation, according to your posts and the terminology used you clearly are not ready to work unsupervised. That is not intended as a dig at you but at the system which throws people like you out in their hundreds on a weekly basis. Most of the guys on here have spent years not weeks learning the trade and you coming on asking such a basic question and not understanding what bonding is and what it does is frankly insulting but I understand that insulting us is neither your intention nor your fault. To say that bonding was discussed beggars belief, once again not your fault. You have been advised that the best course of action would be for you to get some experience with an older hand, please listen to that advice and act on it or I fear your journey to competence is going to be a bumpy one. Hopefully not one that ends in tears.

and i passed you on some advice n all....i told you to get the BGB out and look at earthing and bonding, what they are and the roles they play....
if you had any inkling of this you wouldn`t be posting utter tripe up like `i have bonded the circuit back to the MET`...lol...
its a beauty is that......lol...lol....

Wonder what the Domestic Installer courses were to say if they read a thread like this - my guess, they wouldn't give a sh**.

Sad times for the trade, sad sad times.
sad but true....they would of course try to exhonerate themselves by claiming that the courses they offer are `value for money` n all that lot.....yeah rite!!
value for money dont necessarilly mean cheap....
whats goin to be worth more....
a course on one of these Electrical Trainee thingys that costs £3,999...or a 3 year course at a bonafide college that costs..lets say £5000...or maybe more....but in the long run will provide the proper foundation knowledge to get on.....
