Discuss passed 2391!!! in the Periodic Inspection Reporting & Certification area at ElectriciansForums.net

Well done mate , I got my results through on friday and I'v passed mine as well first time, which I'm really happy with seeing that there was a guy on my course taking it for the 5th time:eek:, even my old boss tuck it twice:p

Well done and congrats.

I just passed as well first time, did not want to start a new thread.

There were some poeple on our course that knew a lot but its putting it on paper in a format that C&Q are looking for that gav them trouble.

I have qualifications in other subjects that took 3 years to complete and I can honestly say that this paper was NOTHING like I have ever done.

Having said that, the Dec 09 paper was quite a kind one IMO when comparing to others before it.

I start the 2391-20 Design course in a few weeks. looking forward to doing this one as well now after receiving the good news.

Kind Regards

Who knows whether it was or whether it wasn't. What you should remember, however, is that with a floating pass mark an easier paper will be marked harder. Therefore there isn't necessarilly any advantage in a seemingly easier paper.

well done mate i am also wanting to gain this qualification and going to possibly take a course in march looks a hard exam so will have to study lots for it any advice mate what books etc once again congratulations

Guys,

many thx :)

Design course?? acc to the lecturer if u know ur GN3 and the 17th ur ok.

Im not playing it down but Written paper is 3 hrs long and has 10 q's (will fwd you some samples) and this particular paper is marked with Pass, (50-60), Merit (60-70) and distinction (70-80%)

Lots of calculations and justifications on choice of wiring systems and protective devices.

The current project is the Parish Hall one

Tips for the exam (as adv by a lecturer of long standing).....You will need to access the GN1 Selection and Erection also (again will fwd in a PM). Lots of tables and charts when compared to GN3 and much more explanation of IP codes and external influences.

Regards

Well done mate!!!
Got mine on Thursday. Trying to revise everything now. Not too nervous yet.

Any one got any recent past papers or examples they could let me have a look at I'd appreciate it?!

Thanks:eek:

Dolomite

This website deals with the implications of Part P - Electrical Safety.

if you get a hold of the past paper for feb 09 i've just finished typing up some model answers

What do you actually need for a JIB gold card?
2360 (236 / 2330) L3 & 2391?

you need an NVQ3 and to have completed an apprenticeship (or approved training course)

don't need the 2391 for the gold card,

2391 gives you a grade 5 electrician instead of grade 4, and you're listed as 'approved'

Thanks for this. I've got the day off for revision tomorrow so will have alook before the exam tomorrow evening!!

Dolomite:)

dont take any notice of the sample answrers they give though, they are 16th edition and often still wrong

i found that best way to revise these, is answer the questions as best as poss, then go through each Q and write out the modek answer from Guidance Note 3, or BS7671

good luck :)

well done mate, I just passed2391 theory but still got practiall to do. been told by inspector that approved is much harder than domestic but 2391 will help
