Just realised what this thread is about!
My AVO9 has just gone away for cal, as I still use it in anger, and it goes everywhere with me.
As has been said, no phantom voltages with them babies. ;)

Nowadays I keep a Metrix MX1 in my service kit rather than the AVO, not as good but a whole lot cheaper to replace if needs be. Used to have an Analogue Megger too, but some thieving git nicked it. Call me old fashioned but Analogue is what i grew up with.

whats the particulars about this glass then..how thin is it?...i have quite a bit of the old glass...the stuff we had pefore the pilkington float glass principle came along ..about 1958...ish.....its like slightly rippled..well it aint dead flat but is optically very good but a real swine to cut..the stuff i have dates from the victorian age but it would do for someone as i can cut this stuff to suit.....so if anyone`s meter has a cracked glass in it i may be able to cut a new one from some glass appropriate to the vintage of the thing.......

Hi Glenn: Have'nt got the exact dimensions to hand but it's the length / size is the thing for the different meters, will hopefully have a chance to measure a Mk 3 tomorrow & let you know.

Just a thought: Maybe we should take a leaf out of the Americans book & start a thread on Multimeters and what people use. Bet that would be an eye opener.
