Statutory legislation 2394 :

There aresome areas for some of these regulations that relate specifically to Inspection.

Electricityat Work Regulations 1989
Testing & Inspectionof installations is not just to confirm compliancewith BS-7671 but to confirm compliancewith EAWR. For inspection purposes, EAWR requires that:

Onlycompetent persons should be engaged in the testing procedure (Regulation 16)
Suitableprecautions for safe isolation need to be taken (Regulation 14)
Padlocks & isolock systems should be used so that controlof isolation remains under the control of the inspector (Regulation 13).

2392-10 .this is what -&-s are looking for .
Although themajor-part of any Inspection will be ( Visual) Other human-senses may be employed .

Prior :- to RCD tests being carried-out , 2392-10. Your reason . it is essential for ( Safety-reasons) that the , Earth-loop-impedance of the installation has to been tested to check that the Earth-return-path is sound & that all the requirements have been-Met. BS-7671:

2392-10 : We do this , day-in-day-out .

Circuitry Check , What is Normal to Us . ?? The list is Endless .

All circuits shall be verified through switching-operationto ensure that the circuits are installed in accordance with the designated-circuit

On / Off switching ofthe lighting circuit to ensure that the lighting circuit is installedcorresponding to the lighting-switch, protective-device and labelling

Switchingof the power-circuit to ensure that thecircuit corresponds to the ( Protective-device(s) such as RCD, RCBO & MCB,and that the protective device performs in accordance with the designated duty

Switching of the main-switch/ isolator to ensure the corresponding-circuit is propererly-controlled by themain , switch / isolator , 100A

Ensuringall the ( Protective-devices ) perform properly against the designatedcircuit

if Normal, then switch onall other out-going switches , one-by-one . ( does this justify , fault-finding ) Lighting .
