Problem with SY is do you earth the braid and if you do what calculations are you going to employ to verify its capacity for carrying fault current because the chances of finding out its resistance are zero.

may be you should look for a firm, that will give you more experiencenot currently i was doing work with a NICEIC electrician that lived nearby until he gave up due to ill health last week.
This is the grey area, people say it should be earthed in case it becomes live opening up the problem can it carry fault current.Braid can't carry fault current can it?
Apparently the braid isn't to be used as a cpc anyway it's for screening only.Problem with SY is do you earth the braid and if you do what calculations are you going to employ to verify its capacity for carrying fault current because the chances of finding out its resistance are zero.
I hope @butchtaylor909 and Everyone won't mind a distraction. I'm not in the best frame tonight so it's time for the bonded tin hat joke :Definitely can't carry fault current but should always be earthed. Tin hat on and bonded.
Should always be earthed, can't carry fault current how does that work.Definitely can't carry fault current but should always be earthed. Tin hat on and bonded.
