Shower or Basin?xxxxxxx

So I've been doing some work in a building and the fuseboard is located in a room which has been converted to a "multifaith room". It's basically a prayer room for Muslims as it's been kitted out with the facility to wash their feet and also a hand dryer mounted low level to then their dry feet.

I couldn't help but notice the proximity of the water outlet to the hand dryer and also the distribution boards.

Any thoughts?

No matter how you dress it up that's a shower regardless of intended use.

I'm guessing one of the users has a relative who does some 'electrics' to save a few quid.

Well i mean, were trying to decide if the basin in the OP is actually a basin or a midgit bath, so a midget shower isnt necessarily out of place in this thread.

May be it just needs a shorter hose on the shower head and turn the pressure of the water down, is this not the same as a hair dressers where they have shower heads over the basins? I would not say its a special location but the accessories , hand drier and fuse board may not be suitable for the environment they are in ?

How far from the edge of the basin is the equipment?

It was 1 metre from the edge of the basin to the hand dryer/spur and 2.2 metres from the edge of the basin to the distribution boards.

All depends on where you would class as the Zone edges then. I wouldnt know how to call that for you unfortunately as i genuinely have no idea. I think you should lean on your scheme on this one, atleast you will get something back for the fee.

My biggest worry is that it is specifically for the cleaning of feet, and I'm pretty sure that wet bare feet and the improved connection to earth via said wet feet is the main reason for more stringent requirements in bath and shower rooms. You can easily have wet hands in a kitchen or toilet, but these are not special locations.
Interesting scenario, not one I've come across before, but my gut instinct is that some improvement needs to be made here. How you apply the regs to it is more difficult, but I think it would be appropriate to classify this as a room containing a shower, since it is specifically intended for use as a body wash, not a flexible dishwashing device.

I doubt if anyone checked if it was safe or compliant with regulations before installing the footbath and dryer. I would not want them in the same room as those large consumer units steam will fill the room. Install a shorter hose on the shower head say half length, that would help. Seems to be an enclosed room where is the extractor fan to comply with building regs?not for me.
