Hi mate
no i have to register and sort the job rang elecsa friday to see if i meet requirments and check a few things out they are very helpful this is why i am choosing to go with them as they always answer my questions even though i am not registered with them so register, get the job done then wait for assesment and hope i pass then i haven't just wasted last few yrs and over £6k lol

We are tied to them all in one way or another and eca / elecsa are by far the best !
I wouldn't worry to much they are strict but understanding and from what i have seen of your past post's you will fly through it i reckon !

cheers guys hope so only took me 25yrs to get to this point lol since my apprenticeship and i should have the nvq and 2330 lv3 i have enrolled for by the time i retire lol

the new builds i used to do mostly are a doddle unlike some rewires lol and the dirty itchy scratchy attics in old terraced houses etc but all good fun

No matter how daft my questions have been i appreciate everyones help and advice since joining this forum and if i dont pass think the mrs will have me buried under the patio as i spent all her money on C&G exams ,books and now elecsa pli, more tools at this rate i be more skint than when i started 25yr ago lol think its something to do with i always seem to work for free like the rewire for my assesment

I better get a move on myself then! I've just got my money together for registration for NAPIT but I've got a partner who's going to up the assessment money so that we can attempt to go for solar and heatpump MCS registration. I don't know how I will read up on everything and ensure I know everything for the assessments but my view is "in for penny in for pound"!!!!

Just received an e mail today regarding qualified supervisors and the new criteria in 2012 for part p. Well it seems a minimum requirment is an NVQ level 3 ??
Now thats fine for the younger sparkies, but what about old school ?

Lets say like myself you served your apprentiship in the 70s and hold an old 2360 part 2 electrical installation cert, along with the level 3 2391 in inspection and testing, the 17th edition cert, and also JIB gold card at approved electrician grade and also the jib platinum Electrical site managers card.

Would that be sufficient to prove your up to an NVQ3 status ?

I am already a qualified supervisor with the NIC EIC, but can't get my head around all the new criteria. I will phone the jib and nic monday but just wondered if any of you guys have any info on all this

I did the A, which was a joke, the B and C courses and I'm wondering if anyone on here is as old as me and done these or even pre date these.

When I did my ECS in May I was talking to the JIB and they were telling me that if you hold the approved Gold card then you are deemed to have all the necessary qualifications for a QS, so I didn't take much notice of what the new criteria was, perhaps I should have.

My father inlaw is 60, he did the original A, B and C courses over 5 years I think, he doesn't remember it being a 2360 though, he has no idea what is equivalent is today.

Indeed, however, the info i was told was from the horses mouth, so to speak.

I was told the same as what you said by the engineer at work. And like I said, now its a rush to get me signed up!!!
Particulary as the sparkie that I work with is retiring next year.

Sorry Electricalserv, just read the rest of the thread and realised the question regarding being assessed wasn't directed at me.
Am I right in thinking that from 2012 any qualified electrician regardless of qualifications or time spent in the trade, will need just one bit of paper namely NVQ 3, to become a qualified supervisor ???

If this is so all the exams and training, all the courses and upgrades that have been completed over the years mean jack sh*t ??? I think the last two I covered were the upgrade course from 16th to 17th edition. and the health and safety course for JIB card renewal. I appreciate that I am ok because I am already a qualified supervisor. But what you seem to be saying is that if I wasn't I would be stuffed as would many time served electricians out there in the same boat. That just doesn't seem right some how !!!
