Discuss So are we older sparkies qualified or not ??? in the Electrical Wiring, Theories and Regulations area at ElectriciansForums.net

I have it from the Napit website.

From 1st January 2012, for the first time, a level of technical competence equivalent to level 3 NVQ competences is to be the minimum requirement for all new applications for Qualified Supervisors.

Further on it also reads about having an off site assessment....Whatever that is.

Now it is a case of finding out what is the equivalent to an NVQ3 in the eyes of Napit. There must be one because they have mentioned equivalent.

Also like the 2391 was made statutory by Napit. I have no hesitation that Napit with offer an internal NVQ3NA just as they made the internal 2391NA

Individuals who already have a competency-based qualification recognised by the EAS Management Committee will not have to take the new qualification if they are applying to become a new Qualified Supervisor after 1st January 2012.

Perhaps that is what NAPIT means, and perhaps it is not the rubbish you seem to think it is. You really do need to lighten up Serv, not everyone on here posts rubbish.

Basically in 1996 the powers that be bought in the NVQ3, if you passed your electrical qualifications before this date as I did you do not need the NVQ3 and the course we undertook did not require it.

now if you finished training after 1996 you do require it, unless you have and can prove the relevant experiance (after all thats what the NVQ does?) so if you have a JIB card graded Electrician you are deemed to have the equivalent of NVQ3 in todays qualifications.

as for the new NVQ3 for domestic I would say they will probably operate the same.

My source for this is my teaching of Electrical quals and the JIB with regards my card and an electrician I have who passed in 1997.
