Hi,

Whats the best way to take 10mm SWA through this wall?

This is one side of it, and the other is accessible as just the metal, no block work in the way, so literally a thin sheet.

I don't usually deal with commercial buildings like this, so would like a little advice on it really.

I need to fix the cable down the outside and someone has suggested a using a bit of tray, but can only use self tappers down the outside.... so cannot get any better fix than that.

I feel I need some form of gland that will look ok and need to seal the hole up, any ideas?

Yes it's not really an option due to the way it's done inside, it's a new office unit and they ate not looking for damage.

Fortunately there's a shed load of basket above the false ceiling so can just plop the cable in that with the others, nice and easy really.

Fortunately the board is within a cupboard in the office that is on the side of the building, I just need to go up with the other swa and into the basket with other circuits, I'll seal anything up that I affect etc, I think I've worked out what I need now.

I appreciate all your help.

Use a Dectite seal or a cable transit if you Google "cable transit" you will get a number of manufacturers in the past I have used the Roxtec and the Hawke transits the Roxtec one being easier to use without special tooling being needed

Ok so I have been to Edmundsons and got a few bits to play with and found what I am going to do.

The next problem I have just come up against is the fact that you cannot get a SP 63A RCBO...

I was planning on taking 10mm from the dist board to an adaptable box on the outside to gland the swa on to. But that first stretch needs to be protected, so now I have the problem of getting a 63A RCBO for the twin and earth.

I was originally going to take SWA from the board to the end point but then taking it through the metal skin of the building is going to look bad taking 10mm 3 core SWA straight out at 90 degrees to the wall and having a huge bend on it outside sticking out.

Any ideas?

yes I can, but the cable will then need RCD protection from the board to the adaptable box...

Then that presents the problem of getting a SP 63A RCBO

What if internal soft cable was clipped surface / visable? Would it require to RCD protected then?

Edit: Think you may say cable in roof space. What about if room at DB, installing 2 x circuits each protected by 32a RCBO's
