Swearing!!!

D

Dave

It has come to my attention that some members are ignoring forum rules about a NO swearing policy.

This is a publicly viewed forum and we shall not tolerate swearing.. if any member persists in using language you will be issued with a warning and if that is ignored, then you will be removed from this forum.

Thank you Admin.

Well, I've got to say how well this forum works, I'm glad of the no swearing rule as it makes it family viewing and any youngsters looking in don't have to be subjected to it. The other thing is just how well mannered everything seems to be. I'm new here but everyone seems friendly and very helpful, with very little evidence of anyone being a keyboard ninja. I think it is a great forum. It's interesting and very informative.

With regards the pub question, as I have explained previously I am an electronics engineer not an electrician. Now whilst I know that some of this overlaps and I can be, or at least try to be helpful when I know the answer to some questions posed, but would I be banned from the pub?

Providing you start using a dictionary, ill think about it :D

Fair n uff ...I thought I may have been able to help on the odd thing in there, I am just grateful that the site is here at all. I have tried to give back in the areas where I know for certain, of what I'm talking about. Thanks anyway..:)

I belong to many forums both for hobbies and work and I have to say with one or two exceptions this is one of the best well mannered and intelligent one's to frequent, I sometimes post stuff that isn't on the money as do others and we get taken apart for it...and quite rightly so, but it is always done for the most part politely and intelligently this builds mutual respect...this is very important to a successful and well subscribed forum..but then sparky's are known to be smarter than the average populous

*Runs and hides*...

Surly freedom of speach top trumps the right not to be offended ???

freedom of speech is accepted on here but furthermore so is the right not to offend people who may be browsing the forum.
i swear like a trooper as i am sure any of the lads off here of whom have met me before. but if say i am in a situation where i may offend anyone by swearing whether it be on here or in a customers presence i will refrain.
sometimes words that are used in place of a swear word can be more effective and in my opinion funny.
also we ALL agreed to this when we signed up on the forum. rules in life are part and parcel and for the greater good. we may not like every one of them but the least we can do is to respect them.

im with phil on this one, people who know me probably think i have torrets(think how you spell it) but if in company who find it rude and inappropriate i would refrain. does that make me a mother trucker

Many people died to give us free speech.

I believe free speech trumps the right not to be offended, otherwise people would not say what they really meant without fear of repercussion.

For the love of god!!!

No one is taking your freedom of speech away from you, we will even listen to your point of view, there is no censorship regarding content or opinion, all we are simply asking is that people reign in their potty mouths, for the sake of the public users, its not a lot to ask and its only about having a bit of respect for others.
