Swearing!!!

It has come to my attention that some members are ignoring forum rules about a NO swearing policy.


This is a publicly viewed forum and we shall not tolerate swearing.. if any member persists in using language you will be issued with a warning and if that is ignored, then you will be removed from this forum.

Many people died to give us free speech.

I believe free speech trumps the right not to be offended, otherwise people would not say what they really meant without fear of repercussion.

thats true and i have family members in the forces and have had grandfathers etc that fought for the right to free speech. they were also firm believers of being appropriate with their conduct and the way they spoke. if you feel the right to swear on an open forum and have a problem not being able to do so contact one of the admin team who will look into it for you.

I have voiced my thoughts on this before and been told quite strongly where I stand.

I agree with asocket in principle.

However he is wrong as this forum is owned by someone, has sponsorship and therefore needs a certain amount of policing.

I had my cautions and warnings and now mostly follow the rules.

I like this forum and it would be a shame if it was dragged down completely into anarchy, which is what asocket is suggesting. (as have I previously)

words are just words and i think we will find freedom of speech does not include profanity.

But if children read it there is a victim. I don't think they should be exposed to swearing. That has been the point all along. Swearing is allowed in the arms as this is not an open forum.

just give it a rest, the forum rules are simple........No swearing, no excuses, its simple, if you want a forum you can swear on then go and start your own!

There is no talking to you. As was said earlier. Go start your own forum if it annoys you that much. If being allowed to swear means this much to you then you need to take a long hard look at yourself.

All words, including profanities are speech and speech is free. Censoring words leads to a slippery slope.

If you believe in freedom of speech you have to accept that there will be times when people write disgustingly inappropriate things

I have always respected the terms and conditions laid down.

I'm defending the right of others to express themselves without using incitement of hate but colourful humorous rhetoric that creates no victim.

I believe this has more than clearly set out and explained not only on here but in the forum rules. like i said if you have an issue with it feel free to contact any of the admin team

Perhaps you would like to ban children from the Internet in case they see something they might see later in life.

You cant be physically hurt from words. They are just words and they are not a victim.

The only victims are those that are unable to practise free speech.

what exactly is the problem here? the rules are clear for all to see.
