Re: Tell us about your faults !

Basically the supply for the garage!! unit comes in the top from the henley block via a 10mm T+E with the earth cut out, The neutral goes directly into the neutral bar the live goes into the neutral side of the RCD, the henley is fed straight from the meter so it was lucky they didn't turn it on  it was like history repeating itself as when they moved in 30yrs ago they had an electrician in and he blew the main fuse as the polarity was wrong on something that had been wired by someone:rolleyes:. Then he thought that the 63A RCCB was the circuit breaker and so wired the outgoing 10mm into the bus bar terminal at the bottom. Oh and the main earth from the supply cable was never connected and neither do they have water or oil bonds :D

Re: Tell us about your faults !

Did he even look up what to do? Even a cursory glance at DIYnot? I mean there seems to be no discrimination between, or reasoning behind, using the terminations he has. Just pick a hole and shove a wire in it! I geuninely did LOL when I saw that.

And what the hell did he think those MCBs were for?!

No earth, eh? No wonder he didn't waste the CPC.....

Re: Tell us about your faults !

the RCD doesn't give overcurrent protection though, 100 Amp head ;) The earths in the board are for supplementary bonding according to him, it's a giant loop thats joined to the hot and cold feeds to the bathroom then back to the board :D

This was according to the which manual :D he's an old chap that tinkers with everything, the houses name no joke was neverdun, in light of their constant DIY hobby, the wife and he love it and they are always changing stuff around in the house hence nothing gets finished or done. They are converting one side of the house to rent lucky new tenant :D. I went to the wholesalers today that supplied it, which I use occationally told the manager he shrugged and said it wasn't illegal selling stuff to the public I rest my case ID cards needed :mad::mad:

Re: Tell us about your faults !

Fair do's though, at least he rang someone qualified before switching it on.

Which, eh? As is 'which hole will balls up my electricity supply'?

Which ran a feature a while ago saying the three best part p schemes were NIC ELECSA and NAPIT. The best three. Well, I suppose they'd have to be, wouldn't they?

EDIT: Love the house name! Gonna suggest that to the old man.
