O

Octopus

So I went to see a job today. Lady has just had her boiler service and suggested that she called an electrician in!

Its a TN-S!

Checked the Zs at a socket and it came back as a very reasonable 6 ohms, not bad for parallel paths and its been like that since the early 1960's!

UPDATE:

So I went back in today at the agreed time and did a bit more.

Ze to the TN-S connection on the DNO head was a respectable 0.22 ohms, installed main earth and bonding to the gas meter adjacent to the CU.

Zs at the same socket (which was about 6 ohms before) is now a very respectable 0.37 ohms

Customer very happy, paid me before I left.

She hadn't been panicing about the situation at all, and the house is defintely much safer than before.

As far as I'm concerned, a home built in 1961 and has clearly been like this since then, doesn't warrant scaring the homeowner senseless by over-stating any dangers.

I think the very least you could have done was draw a nose and mouth on that head as the eyes were already there!:8:
