Discuss urgent helps please problems with consumer unit rcd tripping in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net
please read #103 Marvo...and do the right thing...pleeeese..So you've just done a complete CU change......
.......without doing any circuit tests beforehand and you're now sitting with an RCD tripping fault.......
.....and you've come to the forum to get advice on what might be causing it.....
...because you've attempted to find the problem without too much success....
.....because you don't own or have access to any test equipment......
even though you're a qualified sparky who's out of practice.
I've written between the lines what I'm reading between the lines.
Replacing a CU without having any test equipment is not acceptable. You don't even have a means of proving the circuits you're working on are dead and you have no way of proving they're safe now you've worked on them. You also have no way of finding the crossed/borrowed neutral(s) that are causing your tripping fault. I don't believe you're a qualified guy because there's no way you'd be doing this without test equipment and putting lives at risk if you were.
Stop what you're doing before you cause somebody injury or you kill them. Get a professional in to find the problem(s), test the circuits and check your work. Not being able to afford it isn't an excuse that's going to sound good in front of a judge if this ends up going further South than it already is.
