Megger... Looking to update to new model or change brand?? What u all think?

think you have a 1552. if so, stick with it till it 's broke. nothing to beat it.

My Megger eats batteries!

I don't think it's always been this bad, but emptying out my 'battery bucket' for recycling made me think about the cost of running this MFT. My Megger separates granted don't get as much use, but run forever on set of AAs.

You've got to applaud the bright spark engineer at Megger that thought: hmmm, a
mains lead, maybe we could re-charge the batteries! But charging a premium (the 1730) for something that should be a standard feature ain't on.

I've often found my MFT 1502 eats batteries too, then I discovered that the carry case I had it in the sponge insert was pushing the test and hold button simultaneously so making the meter do a battery life test all the time whilst being stored in the back of the van :(

I keep my Megger MFT in a CK electrician's case, so maybe I'm having the same problem, if another tool case gets pushed up against it. Thanks - I'll have to keep an eye on that.

I think the positioning of the main function buttons on the 1500 series was a big design mistake. Clearly Megger finally figured that out, as the front panel position for the buttons on the 1700 series suggests. Doh! I could have told them that ages ago.

My bottom of the range Metrel came with a nice set of li-ion rechargables and a mains charging lead. Come on Megger, pull your socks up :smug:

Megger 1730,,,, The case is Poo,the clips fall off. Its stopped testing RCD's so its back with them for fixing again! and it gives different readings between 2 wire Zs and 3 wire.
