Discuss whats the point in the Electricians Chat - Off Topic Chat area at ElectriciansForums.net

the ones that annoy me are the ones who are new and only join to ask a question , but the other ones who have been a member for sum time and ask a question that may be obvious or daft i give them credit for joining this forum at least they are interested enough to join and sit in the background learning stuff because their are loads of sparks out there that ain't even interested in learning or doing it right

There must hav been one a day this last week coming in first post with a question, no hello or f all!
Why should we even begin to answer or provide info to somebody we know nothing about?

The best policy is to ignore them then. No one is forcing anyone to post. (You will get an annoying message if you don't post often enough though)

whats the point of this forum? its getting a bit boring these days , someone asks a question ( some completely stupid ) and all they get is are you competent , are you stupid , what does the regs book say , they are asking a question because they don't know the answer , if guys on here don't like it then just don't comment on it , all i see is pages and pages of the same guys and the same dribble , the guys in question are very helpful and know their stuff but are just letting themselves down lately.
Also a place where friendships can be made and laughs can be had. You can also buy and sell equipment etc, some members have no sense of humour at all, on a large site with dozens of trades the banter is going all day. I wonder how many here would last a day on a big site.

Because its downright rude and may not get suitable replies.
When somebody is rude to you do you not speak up?

Boydy

In my opinion , It would work a lot better if anybody that comes on this forum and joins in with their input for a minimum amount of posts before they are allowed to post a thread themselves , this at last would allow everybody to recognise them and know them to some extent ,
At the moment this forum is being used as a helpline to anybody and everybody that either does not now what to expect or those that haven't got a clue or those that should not be doing this work ,
I can't see why the minimum posts rule can't work , its got to help the situation whatever happens ,,,
Thats my opinion anyway,,

I found the first 10 years of site work hard. The next 10 years were much easier. The last 10 years project managing have been even better : )

Not too sure what you are saying really but my point is surely it is less rude to ignore them than berate them on a public forum??
Only my opinion though.

It was tried before, and resulted in 'genuine' threads being spammed with "post #1", "post #2" etc.
I agree with what you're saying about the 'helpline bit' - I don't think the forum should be nor is set up to work like that, although the forum owner seems happy to work on an 'ask a question answer a question' model because it attracts more new threads.
