Discuss whats the point in the Electricians Chat - Off Topic Chat area at ElectriciansForums.net

look i`m not a particularly pleasant person and i know that...
i do try to reign myself in..i really do but....

whats the alternative reply to everyone sayin get a regs book

The alternative is to ask questions to seek out the knowledge of the job in hand and the competence of the individual asking the question. In most cases the knowledge is poor and competence is awful - does that answer your question?

In my opinion , It would work a lot better if anybody that comes on this forum and joins in with their input for a minimum amount of posts before they are allowed to post a thread themselves , this at last would allow everybody to recognise them and know them to some extent.
I could see the newcomers just tagging their questions on the end of an existing thread if they can't start their own and probably just preface the post with 'I tried to post this in the general Electrical forum but I couldn't get it to work so....'.

Not too sure what you are saying really but my point is surely it is less rude to ignore them than berate them on a public forum??
Only my opinion though.
Mine also. If people are berated on the forum and the thread descends into a slanging match then everyone including the instigators will be dealt with accordingly. Just in case the Friday festivities have caused amnesia I can only state again no matter how stupid their question or the person posting it seems please just rather say nothing and walk away if you can't keep it civil.

so hold on a mo`..

does this mean that those that dont own the regs book should still just carry on installin regardless?

if they cant refer to the book how can you expect them to be applying BS7671 to what they are doing?...

caus to be frank with you the quality of some of the threads of late have been beyond words..

So you too advocate letting the blind lead the blind - you CAN say that as you are safely about 6000 miles away

Yep, it would be a good place to start ,
Then you could say ( looked in BGB and as I read it I think I should do this, but has anyone got a better idea)

if some cant interpret that then thats not my problem really...is it...

After seeing iams last post in a dust extractor thread I don't think he is in any position to comment about rude posting. In fact Marvo banned me for using language which was not as bad as he has just used to some guy asking for advice. So there we have it, pot kettle black.
