And the ones which do go to Europe don't get charged any duty or vat. We leave and they do, thus making Nissan vehicles unaffordable in the Eurozone. Of course they'll bugger off somewhere more beneficial to their business
Like France? Where nobody in their right minds sets a business??
The EU could try and invoke tarriffs etc but we would simply reciprocate and as we IMPORT far more from the EU than export to it what would be the gain to the EU.
The EU "ideals" are finished IMHO. The emerging markets are where we all need to be, so trade with the EU is OK, but to be too reliant would be stupid. A bit like you committing 75% of your time to 1 builder - you wouldn't do it.
In 50 years time the EU with be poorer than it is now and the emerging markets will be the wealthy one.
In fact as it stands, with the Chinese currency "pegged" to the US dollar they get an "unfair" advantage over all of the rest of the world.
The Chinese have massive currency reserves and thus their currency, if it were "floating" on the world money markets, would appreciate massively, immediately making all their exports far more expensive and thus allowing other countries and companies to compete. In fact there could be a company (or companies) down the road from you Trev that may benefit immediately.
The world needs to be wary of China as they have little or no regard for copyright or patent.
The world is not about the EU - we better not forget that - give the French their way and we would put up baricades, and bar all imports - and just look at how "well" the French economy is doing! They are "protected" by the EU and their oit of date working rights - which is doing them no end of harm.
