Hi, I need to replace a Crabtree Starbreaker B32 RCBO 30mA CIRCUIT BREAKER. 61/B3230 old type which is now obsolete and can only be bought online from Ebay.
Comapring the image of the breaker online, there is a small difference to the one that needs replacing. Printed above 30mA is a square box...
Hello,
What would be the max Wattage immersion heater I could comfortably install on a dedicated 60A circuit?
Not DIY but trying to figure out some options before speaking with contractors.
Cheers!
Working principle of 7 center tapped full wave rectifier circuits ??????
What is center tapped full wave rectifier?
7 full wave rectifier circuit using two diode or SCR
1. Rectifier circuit with resistive load using two Diode
2. Rectifier circuit with RL load
3. The center tapped full wave...
My Lasko electric heater stopped working and I thought it just played out so I replaced it with another heater that worked fine for a while, but when I went back to check it was also not working. A fan is on the same circuit and has been that way for years, the fan still works fine. Is this...
Hi All,
I’m a retired electrician from the Detroit area. My question is, I need to replace some old two prong receptacles in my daughters 75 year old home. Code says I can install a GFCI receptacle in the first receptacle of a group of receptacles and install standard three prong receptacles...
I just picked up a Thermal Dynamics SL100 plasma cutter. I have 220 circuit in my shop but I don't think its up to the task. Its about a 40 foot run to the shop from my 200 amp panel. Currently the circuit has a two pole 15 amp breaker with 10-3 wire. The requirements are below. Can I just...
Please don't all kill me here but,
I replaced 3 lights tested those 3 and all working. Went to do a 4th a restored power and now the rcd trips.
Put everything back to how it was and no power to any outgoing circuits but all circuits have 240v.
No tripping at all unless I put in a plug top...
An electrician once told me that I should always be careful not to exceed too much wattage on each circuit in a house by replacing light bulbs with brighter ones that are of higher wattage (e.g. don't replace all 60W bulbs with 75W or 100W bulbs).
However, with the newer CFL and LED replacement...
New one for me...
Commercial building (museum), 3 phase board
16A MCB, 3 x 2.5mm singles run in 20mm conduit, ending up at an FCU. All fine.
The singles are red, blue, and yellow/green.
Red is used for L1, Blue is used for N
My gut reaction is that this is just too confusing and needs sorting...
Hello everyone, I am no domestic electrician but I do work as a designer in the railway, low voltage signalling circuits etc. My question concerns my oven. I have just bought a second hand double oven of the internet and went to fit it in my rented house. The existing oven is connected using a...
I'm having a problem with the CU rcd tripping out, I have installed a feed outside to my daughters hot tub using 6mm cable about 14mts in length going to a metal clad dis board and from there via a 32A mcb to a 32A switched socket, insulation is good, no damp, but when I connected up the tub the...
My main incoming rcd is tripping out as soon as any load on any circuit. Have pulled each circuit out of the board live and neutral in turn but failed to isolate it to any specific circuit, is this likely to be the rcd at fault?
Doing an EICR and was looking for some advice, testing the socket circuit, it’s a ring circuit. 3 sockets in the living room area, opened 2 up and they both had one cable at it (great). Opened the 3rd and it had 4, so obviously the other 2 sockets are fed from here. Now I know you are allowed to...
My question is 'What battery do I use'? I am trying to to build a simple horn circuit for my wife's mobility scooter. My idea is to use a 6 or 12 volt motorbike horn, a battery and a switch in a simple circuit. I want something that is completely separate so it can be swapped between scooters. I...
Hi all,
Looking for some advice if possible please!
Got one if then jobs that you get roped in to and that’s turned from a quick simple tasks to maybe a small can of worms.

I'm having a few problems finding these values in this complex circuit. I've tried several different methods but still cannot find a step by step process of finding the right answers.
Can anyone help? It's been a while since I was at college!
Thank you in advance ?
I’ve got a bunch of 230v stuff in one place, a 230v device In another and an inherited data cable in a duct between them.
Don’t think it’s an option to draw a new mains rated cable due to damage to the duct but the data cable is good. So how do I use a relay contact one end to trigger another...
