Content of the thread: Just was at a caravan site in Lake District recently, which had some very interesting Delabie electronic tap and shower fittings, also direct WC flush valves which worked extremely well.
Always wondered why these valves didn’t seem to catch on in UK when very many other countries never use cisterns.
A quick look in the Delabie specs sheet reveals their valves require a 20mm...

This is an RSS feed of thread: Location of water meter with main shutoff valve.

Content of the thread: I am refurbing my bathroom & need to replace the dodgy main stopcock from the rising main. It is easily accessible and the job should be straightforward. I live in a first floor flat in a block of 6. When I contacted Yorkshire Water, to ask for a meter location, a rather shirty young man incredibly gave the response: "Why are you asking me?" and basically didn't want to go any further. I...

Why is my pumped shower suddenly slow in starting? Discussion Thread

This is an RSS feed of thread: Why is my pumped shower suddenly slow in starting?

Content of the thread: Not been on here for ages, got a lot of help when I installed my bathroom some years ago. Everything went fine until I had to replace the shower mixer valve recently. The old one had started to get stiff to turn, so I fitted an identical unit to make the job easy - it's a cheap, minimalist "Harrison Mode" unit from a well known victorian supplier. All went well, until I came back from 2...

Hole in copper pipe, solder under floor, T coupling & protection Discussion Thread

This is an RSS feed of thread: Hole in copper pipe, solder under floor, T coupling & protection

Content of the thread: I was stupid enough not to check the position of the pipes under the tiles when installing a toilet and drilled right through the center of a 16 mm copper water pipe. I exposed the pipe by removing a ~30cm section of the plastic sleeve and a ~10 cm section of the pipe around the hole. Several questions:
  • I was thinking to solder, but not sure if I should be brazing or...

This is an RSS feed of thread: Advice on moving toilet from front of house to the back.

Content of the thread: Hi,

I am wanting to have our toilet moved from the front of the house to the back. It would be moved straight back by about 4 meters but this would be away from the soil stack. Our house was built in 2006 and I presume the floor will be concrete.

Is this possible?

Thanks

When I pour cold water then I have to wait for hot water twice or 3 times longer like cold water (higher pressure) forces itself into the hot water pipe otherwise how to explain this 20-30 seconds lag...

Limescale filter resins in internal cold water pipework Discussion Thread

I have an undersink 3-stage water filtration system. The limescale media (resins) leaked into the internal cold water lines. However, the tap in the downstairs toilet, the upstairs taps...
