:D so what is a small ring rated at? :D how about a 20A mcb at the supply mains board then put a 'garage board' in the garage with a 16A for the socket radial circuit and a 6A for the 2 flori's

    New circuit suggestions.

From Ip socket with plugtop, flex into IP rated adaptable box with a remote control in it then feed out to the light. They are reasonably cheap and all men cant resist a new gadget

Can you suggest a new category?

Out of all the ones already posted, I like the sound of home automation which could also encompass BMS and general controls stuff like PLC's etc and i also like the idea of one for Low energy and LED's etc which could also include Micro-generation and solar energy etc Having said that, I think...

    The NICEIC.

I think there is generally a lot of pride in being a member of NIC and that comes across when talking to most sparkies. The ones who aren't registered normally wish they were and panic about going for registration which is how it should be. We have a division who do work for B&Q and they insist...

    sole trader or ltd

Basically if you are truly a 'sole' trader then keep it that way, it's a lot less hassle. As andekoch says, your only real benefit is the liability which means that if you get sue then you wont lose your house, but i'd be really surprised if a judge ruled you out of your house anyway and if you...

    No ring main continuity

Why are people saying to put it onto two radials? That doesn't make sense and particularly under the circumstances described. If you dont know here the earth break point is, how do you make the circuit into two radials..... where would you split it? and more the question, even if you did know...

A little help starting up my own business

Get experience while you are training and dont wait until you're qualified, it really helps. If you want to be your own boss then at least do a basic business course and maybe some paperwork/ computer training too. It'll all be worth it in the end. good luck

    Outside Light With PIR

Zs would depend on the length of cable etc As a guidline if your Ze is 0.15 then your Zs in a typical domestic length could be between 0.3 and 1 ohm but this is purely a guestimate. Usually better to get your R1R2 and then Ze and your will have a better idea from them.
