PME Swimming Pool, Pond, and Jaccuzi

Indeed, the pond pumps are constantly run, with the pool pumps on individual (plug in type) timers. To be perfectly honest I was a bit confused as to why there were two, and their sizes so different? The rating plate of larger pump is 450w and the smaller 280w. The pool is a bit of a strange...

PME Swimming Pool, Pond, and Jaccuzi

Only standard 50/25mtr reels (1.5mm2 ish). The Pumps are only small for pond (so i'm told), and 450w/280w for pool. He also mentioned a summer house, with kettle (another can of worms). Think i need a revisit to confirm exactly what it is that he's planning for this. On the face of it this...

PME Swimming Pool, Pond, and Jaccuzi

Absolutely, not turning my nose up to any work, just don't think he realises how expensive it's going to be. I was actually there to look at a lean-to that he wanted a few sockets and a light in, somehow we managed to get talking about fish?!? (don't ask, I can't recall). That's when he...

PME Swimming Pool, Pond, and Jaccuzi

I don't think i'll be touching this in all honesty, he's not going to pay for it when he has something that works now (albeit completely wrong, "but the pumps and pretty lights work"). All I can do is issue a quote, and try to talk some sense into them. Regards

PME Swimming Pool, Pond, and Jaccuzi

Went to look at a job the other day, The customer wants some "electrics" installed for his swimming pool, pond, and jacuzzi. Had a quick look at the existing Jacuzzi supply: this is tapped off of main tails (henley blocks), into Seperate RCD enclosure with 40A MCB. Unable to locate bonding...

Want to replace/move power shower - options?

Unfortunately flow rates do vary, it'd be wise to check this. Also ensure that the feed to your water cylinder is taken from a higher position than your cold draw offs. If a manual mixer with no thermostat is used without this, there's a possibility of scalding. Even if thermostatic unit is...

    Export pme to portakabin

Not again . . . . . I see more arguments, and quoting of regulations that have yet to appear in the books I read :90:. It's probably sat on terra-firma anyway. It's personal choice Mark, Export PME with bonding conductors, or 'TT' it with RCD etc. Both have pro's, both have con's. Regards...

    downlights inbetween I beams??

As above, providing your lights have an equal or greater fire rating than the plasterboard there will be no problems. Regards Billy

Want to replace/move power shower - options?

If your existing unit is REALLY noisy, it is most likely a damaged/worn pump, and/or cavitation. How long has the unit been installed? Regards Billy

I would install the RCD as close to the consumer unit as possible. Regards Billy

    Testing SWA circuit to shed

Mike, He hopefully selected 32A to discriminate with the upstream protective device, and downstream (I assume) 16A & 6A MCB's.

advise please re spur on a shower

Stop being silly, if this is after the isolator you won't have a neutral. You'll need perm live and neutral from light.

advise please re spur on a shower

No, I'm a consummate professional. I left that there for the next "leccy" to use-you must know how annoying it is to forget the sleeving? ;-)

Biggest cable you guys have terminted

You provide the ammo, he'll shoot you with it! 300mm2 4c's, and 630mm2 single core AWA's are my personal best. Unfortunately we managed to crack the monoblock with the latter (Oopsy). Regards Billy

    Still unsure

I assume my mind is right then, There is no possible way? At first I thought maybe the engineer thought that the link was at the main LV. So I let him know that it was at the intake panel, but he stood by his earlier statement. Then explained to him that I was wrong with a maximum Zs of...

    Still unsure

This has been troubling me for some time now. . . . . At my previous company i was asked to go and Verify the test results/Install for a Voltage Optimiser that we'd fitted. I traced the supply cables from LV Panel to source, these ran through the building, down into ducts, and continued into...
