No space in back box for dimmer modules

Agree think the single box is also in a stud wall looking at the wood screw in the side fixing. A multi tool is your friend to deal within the noggin and then the box could be replaced with a deep dry lining box

Multiple lights and power socket not working but no blow fuses - any ideas?

To check if the fuse is ok take it out of the switched spur and put in into a plug on an appliance you know works for example a table lamp. If the lamp works then the fuse is ok . If the lamp does not work then the fuse is blown which could of been course by a number of things . Either way...

    Plug/Fused Switch Outlet

I saw it a lot in shop fitting all low bay lights on 13amp plug tops and everything else pluged into bus bar track above ceiling. What I dont like is 30 meters of flex going across a false ceiling with a 13 amp plug on the end to supply the intruder alarm system🤔

Wiring supply in top of Isolators RCDS and mcbs

When I spoke to hager tech about this they said that mcbs must be fitted the correct away round as I remember it ,it was to do with the direction the arc traveled in the event of a fault or overload

    Switchgear Brand Identification

MEM and bill are the same. Schneider make square D kq and Merlin gerin. Although the same mcb Square d are plug on and Merlin are not. You used to be able to remove the plug on part of the square d mcb so you could fit it in a merlin board but they glue them in now . I think a lot of the no...

Replacement DB to Submain RCD advice

Ok so In this case I would not worry about selectivity. As you have a current EICR for the wylex DB and is not part of your alterations then I would just test up the wylex board. Compare zs at DB with EICR to confirm all final circuits from the wylex DB will disconnect under fault conditions...

Replacement DB to Submain RCD advice

I would say you are overthinking it. If your not altering any part of the office installation, then leave it alone ust test the circuits fed from your new DB. Does the office DB have a up to date EICR? Technically you should not use an mcb to feed a sub main as there will be no selectivity...

C2 Vs C3 for no RCD on various circuits

Because you are standing directly on the ground which is also possible wet. As you say less likely to get a larger shock standing on your wooden floor in your house. Also your more likely to cut through a cable with the hedge strimmer than a hairdryer 😀

    Does SPD MCB size matter?

The reg states it just something to be considered. So its up to you if you choose to follow it. I prefer to use separate rcbos, but if the spec requires a split load board thats what will be installed . Just to add regarding spds. Hagers connect straight to the main switch with no OCD in the...

Second Opinion on Modification to Existing Circuit

The problem.. with sy cable is that its not recognised by bs7671 although there are tables on line with current carrying capacity detail. We only used it for long runs on 24 volt access control and BMS . But you see it all the time used on Air con systems. that not to say its correct and when...

Please tell me i'm not going mental and he's talking gibberish?

I'm not sure if you can touch the top of the fuse carrier with the fuse remove, in those hager switched fuses, which in this case would be live. Where as the bottom of the fuse holded is not accessible. And that's why the live in should be in the bottom terminals

    UK Emergency lighting regs

Agree the mains lights should stay on durring test mode except the combined ones of course. As suffolksparks says. The LED indicator will not be illuminated in test mode . And label the el fitting to avoid any confusion
