Help - melted plug - why?

I think you've hit the nail on the head, Tel. OP you say you sometimes plug in at customers properties, meaning you could potentially cause the same damage to their sockets too. A new plugtop for your extension, outside socket on your house and 2kW immersion would be my solution.

Phone Line not working but broadband active

Another thought is a dodgy adsl filter (if broadband is supplied through the phoneline).

"Powering the way, come what may"

Personally I don't like it. I might not be one to judge though as we don't have one!

    Apprentice/Trainee Starter Tools - A Guide! (Updated)

This is an update to a thread I made a couple of years back. I have consolidated all the additions to keep it tidy. A question that keeps popping up! Obviously the type of work and location are both factors in the tools you will need so please only use this as a guide rather than a definitive...

    First year apprentice tools

Hey Dom, I recommend you join the trainee section (if you haven't already). It's a bit quiet just now but will hopefully pick up. There is a wealth of useful information in there including a list compiled by myself that would answer your question (although aimed more at domestic) and some...

Please help. Sockets on wooden skirting.

To be fair lads there is a chance that the socket has been screwed to the skirting and there is no backbox, just a hole. Have seen it before.

Please help. Sockets on wooden skirting.

Haha there are houses the length of the country with sockets in the skirting, "v" lining, even kitchen splashback!

new supply needed for granny annex?

As mentioned if new shower was mixer type then you can cross off the shower and immersion, then you're sorted.

new supply needed for granny annex?

Possibly! They take a lot of these minibus tours so most, if not all rooms being filled at the same time of evening. Can only be luck that they've managed so far.

new supply needed for granny annex?

There is a 12 bedroom guesthouse local to me with an electric shower in each room. The property is fed with a standard single phase supply and the client assured us he had never had an issue! Was tempted to pull the fuse carrier and see if there was actually a fuse in there!

Where do you buy hand tools?

Due to where I live (nothing local), Amazon is a firm favourite.

    T.V Series recommendations?

Another vote for Sons of Anarchy. Peaky Blinders, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Designated Survivor, Narcos, Making a Murderer. Bosch is also a good one but that's on Amazon Prime.
