need to purchase a tester, opinions on buying second hand.

Still got my 1552! Love it and still going strong! Borrowed a mates 17xx earlier in the year, seemed much faster on loop and rcd tests, but can't justify replacing the old 1552 yet!

Decent LED Floods with or without PIR

I like the ansell die cast jobs, not had any issues with them, and they have a quality look and feel to them.

NAPIT Certification Scheme Qualifications needed to register with Napit as EICR electrician

Is this NVQ3 thing a new requirement? I thought that at one point all you needed was a 2381 and a few hundred notes?

Cut out and meter connected with t+e

Cheers, will see how I get on, got a funny feeling I'll get passed from DNO to supplier and back until I get bored!

Cut out and meter connected with t+e

Rough as though! To be clear this is t+e between cut out and meter, not meter and cu. Seen plenty of cu's fed by 16mm t+e, not come across t+e 'tails' before, maybe I've been lucky!

Cut out and meter connected with t+e

Been to look at a job today....cut out at ground level, meter at ceilling height,in a wooden boxing and the pair are connected via 16mm t+e!! CU cover missing, and a helpful scribbled note on the wooden access panel ' live parts inside, only qualified electricians to open'! So...who to...

need to purchase a tester, opinions on buying second hand.

I think I'd be wary of individual sellers on ebay or gumtree etc. Just because of the chance it might be dodgy. On the other hand buying a refurbished unit with cal cert from a decent company (who may well have an ebay shop!) Might well get you a bargain. I picked up a lecia rotary laser and all...

    Class 2 advice needed please

This guy seems to be getting a lot of stick for basically making the best of a bad job? However high and mighty we electricians might think we are, and however misguided customers may be, we can't force people to have work done if they don't want it! The result in this scenario is an upgrade...

    1st flats with concrete ceilings

Cheers guys, might end up with a combination, maybe a central spine of basket, then use the plastic clips for individual drops. Think I've seen some clips in wholsaler that just knocked into a pre drilled hole. Presumably they dont need to be metal since it will all be protected by ceilling once...

    1st flats with concrete ceilings

Looking at a job first fixing flats with concrete ceillings, to be lined with mf ceilling system. How do you guys support cables in this scenario? Just clip up to concrete, or some more elaborate solution? Tray seems kind of ott, but would be a good solution. Cheers

Only 38 years without an earth. ..

Is the 2 core visible on the outside of the house wall before it goes into the wall? Just thinking that if you can intercept the 2 core between house and path, cut it and gland into new enclosure on outside wall, and run new cable into back of FCU? Could use TnE in conduit, so no disturbance to...

Consumer unit to be moved away from service head

Why not use ring crimps on the 25mm and fix both incoming and outgoing earths to the SWA banjo bolt. Could even run a 16mm fly lead from earth terminal to banjo if you were concerned about earth to switch fuse casing.

    CO monitor in extension.

Pretty sure AICO have just launched a combined heat and smoke detector, handy for kitchens with boilers in for rentals I guess. Not fitted one yet though. My Gas safe guy just fits standalone battery CO detectors, simple cheap and compliant.
