Murdoch, spelt correctly ! I am an electrician, but been out of the game for decades. Doing electrics free for a new build. It's for family member to keep cost down. As you know, things have changed a great deal recently, so yes I'm out of touch .so need bringing up to speed. I come on here when...
Could i wire above directly from consumer unit via it's own RCBO? That would provide means of isolation and OCP. Out side, the pump and comp can be isolated by unplugging?
ahh sorry. my comments were re earlier threads.....see OP. I was referring to the Kiddie range that the customer had purchased. I proposed using Aico dectectors.
Not that I do certs, but I was told that the new on line certs once completed and saved, you can not re open them for any editing that you thought of, unlike on the computer which you can reopen for editing.
Ok, so in my case, at this point in time, i have wired the smoke/heat and carbon detectors on their own RCBO circuit. I don't like doing this but, to comply with regs, I could disconnect from existing RCBO and double up on another lighting RCBO. In other words, have 2 x radial circuits off 1 x...
I may well do that in the end Murdoc......The house is 22 x RCBO's + 1 x MCB for garage / studio flat. Studio flat may have approx 5 circuits inc smoke /heat. Garage approx 2/3 circuits
Thats exactly what I don't want Trev. I don't want a flat RCD feeding garage RCD
SWA was installed for garage and possible office above. After house 1st fixed, owner decided to make the office a studio flat to rent out.
Re: So with the all steel consumer units on the way your conversation goes something
You will be OK, new regs not in yet! lol But, seriously though, do you think it would have to be somehow sealed? Also would timber being used be frowned upon?
Possibly not explained very well. 1 Ph intake / meter at house. Meter covers house, studio flat and garage. By electrically separate what I meant was, if a RCD operated in the flat, the tenant could reset it locally within the flat as opposed a RCd sited in the garage. Hope the helps
Re: So with the all steel consumer units on the way your conversation goes something
From what I can gather....many Electricians, use timber, so as to space the consumer unit off the wall so that cables can enter from the rear. Would that practice be suitable with metal units to comply with...
