EV Charge Point with Usage Data for Billing Employer

A question perhaps for @Gavin John Hyde or others: I have a potential customer who is looking for an EV charge point installed at his property to charge a company vehicle. He needs to be able to generate usage reports for his employer to be able to claim back the cost of charging the EV. Any...

AM2S Insulation Resistance Test on RCBO

No problem. Best of luck with it. I'm sure you'll be fine.

AM2S Insulation Resistance Test on RCBO

Don't forget as a rule-of-thumb which errs on the side of safety to double the highest phase to neutral measurement for a three-phase system.

Difference between 1p+N and double pole RCD

Cheers. I've brought up a picture of it from Hager and it appears to be 2 module? In fact similar to the AD906J we get here (although it has no flylead). https://hager.com/uk/products/h/ada906u-rcbo-1pn-6ka-b-6a-30ma-a...

Difference between 1p+N and double pole RCD

Do you have a product code for it?

Does anyone know what RCD fault he is talking about

He talks about "disconnecting the Rns". This doesn't actually make sense, as Rn is the resistance of a neutral conductor and as such can only be measured and not disconnected. Rn is not a name for a neutral conductor. Sorry to be pedantic but it irritated me.

Not aware of a single module one.

EV CHARGERS - OZEV OR UK EMISSIONS TRADING REGISTER OR BOTH?

WCS still exists, but EVHS has morphed into the EV Chargepoint Grant.

    R1 R2 Chestnut time again

If you add the (R1+R2) to the Zdb then this will give you an indication as to the expected maximum Zs for the ring final circuit.

Boiler, programmer etc. via immersion heater circuit?

Why would it be relevant whether it complied at the time of installation?

Boiler, programmer etc. via immersion heater circuit?

I've seen them before, but only come across 2 mod RCBOs for them. Doesn't excuse the incompatible products obviously.

    230v between N+E and 0v between L+E

As above, it sounds like reverse polarity to me.

UK Seeking advice on quote to replace CU

As with other comments, assuming all was OK with the existing electrical installation and remedial works to it weren't required, I'd be looking at £650 for a replacement DB with a "normal" number of circuits connected to it. (If there were an exceptional number of circuits then obviously a bit...

    Single pole rotary isolator

If you look up the part code it actually does appear to be a single pole switch disconnector. https://uk.farnell.com/eaton-moeller/t5b-1-8200-a-svb/isolator-flush-63a-1pole/dp/3203270

Also you mention stranded conductors without a ferrule. Are these stranded, fine stranded or very fine stranded?

Electric switch covered in plaster, now light doesn't turn off

But that would be leaving non-sheathed conductors exposed and energised, leaving the Electrician in bother were something to happen.

UK Solar SWA cable run 10mm or 16mm

Caveat first: I haven't done any PV installs in quite a number of years. However, when I was doing them it seemed to be generally accepted to try to keep the volt drop within around 1%.

Are all EV charge point installers this bad?

They didn't claim that it was illegal to fit equipment in the Permali Box though, but rather that it is impermissible. You will be in beach of your agreement with the DNO for supplying you electricity, even though you are the legal owner of the Permali Box (but not the equipment contained within...

    Strange voltage on earth wire

I'd have expected a call-out on a Sunday to cost at least triple that just for attendance (and realistically more with you being close to London), but nonetheless it seems like a poor resolution.
