is the boiler going next to the fused spur? if your planning on burying any cable then you need to change it to an rcd spur unless the cable is otherwise protected.

why would 10mm not be big enough? the adiabatic works out less than 10mm so its meets the requirements of table 54.7 and 543.1.4 or am I missing something?

just start again mate and while you're at it sort the cooker circuit out. has your consumer unit got rcd's in it? because although he has attempted to protect the cable the new sockets need to have rcd protection.
I think you would just have to put it through your books as an asset introduced to the business with the estimated value then it would be deducted from your profit.
check its wired up correctly then test the circuit if the results are ok check the power is getting as far as the shower, if it is the shower in cream crackered. are you sure the light didn't go off because the mcb or rcd tripped.
